The following are the core beliefs of Oswego]Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. Our teaching and ministry are rooted in and flow from these biblical doctrines.

That Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God who died for our sins and rose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)

For what I received, I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…

That the Bible is the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

That every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:21-24)

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

The forgiveness of sins and salvation is available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 3:16)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Those accepting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into him. (Acts 2:38)

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.

The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and exists to save the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16; 1 Corinthians 12:27)

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

That Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven… the dead in Christ will rise first.

17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together… to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female and that these two distinct and complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.

We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman and that intimate sexual activity occurs solely within that union.
